The “Width” control adjusts the stereo width.
Negative values (0 to -6dB) reduce the relative level of sounds from the extreme left and right, compared with the center. At the -6dB setting, the “middle” is boosted by 3dB, and the “sides” are attenuated by 3dB. On recordings where the stage width seems too extreme, this brings the soundstage together.
Positive values (to +6dB) increase the relative strength of extreme-left and extreme-right positions compared with center. This pushes the sound stage out toward the loudspeakers.
